Guide to some of our favorite restaurants in East Hampton, Amagansett and Sag Harbor:

1770 House (143 Main Street, East Hampton): The 1770 House in East Hampton delights visitors with two exceptional restaurants, each offering a distinct culinary experience. In the main dining room, guests are treated to refined American cuisine with modern flair. Popular dishes include the Pan Roasted Halibut, perfectly cooked and paired with seasonal vegetables, and the Grilled Filet Mignon, tender and succulent, served with a delightful truffle potato puree. The Tavern (located in the basement level) provides a more relaxed setting, where patrons can savor comforting fare and classic cocktails. Locals and visitors alike rave about the Tavern Burger, a juicy masterpiece topped with bacon, cheese, and caramelized onions.  The Tavern also offers Ina Garten’s (a.k.a. Barefoot Contessa) famous meatloaf served with creamy mashed potatoes.

Il Buco al Mare (231 Main St, Amagansett): This cosy restaurant is a culinary treasure, offering an unforgettable dining experience with its excellent Italian cuisine. From fresh seafood to mouthwatering pasta dishes, every bite exudes authentic flavors and attention to detail. The restaurant's inviting atmosphere, accompanied by warm and attentive service, enhances the overall dining pleasure, making it a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts seeking an exceptional taste of Italy on the beautiful East End of Long Island. We think this is also the best place to get pizza in the Hamptons.

Bostwick Chowder House (277 Pantigo Rd, East Hampton) is a beloved seafood eatery known for its coastal charm and delectable dishes. Their famous New England Clam Chowder, rich and flavorful, is a favorite among locals and visitors. The Lobster Roll, brimming with succulent lobster meat and served on a buttery toasted bun, is a must-try delight. We think they have the best Lobster Roll in the Hamptons. Crispy Fish Tacos, filled with fresh catch and zesty slaw, offer a burst of flavor. Try to snag a table outdoors on the terrace if possible. You can also get an order to go if you want to enjoy Bostwick’s amazing seafood at home or to take to the beach.

Stepping inside, the aroma of freshly baked goods envelops visitors, setting the stage for a delightful experience. The Dock Bar and Grill (482 West Lake Drive, Montauk): Located near the historic fishermen’s wharf in Montauk, the Dock Bar and Grill beckons with its laid-back coastal charm and delectable offerings. The décor is an eclectic mix of taxidermied animals and a cornucopia of maritime antiques. Feast on the freshest seafood catches, grilled to perfection, or indulge in the mouthwatering burgers, a favorite among locals and visitors alike. We recommend trying the fresh catch of the day which often includes flounder, halibut, and lobster. All of the desserts are homemade and our favorite is the peanut butter and chocolate pie—one of the most decadent desserts in the Hamptons.

John Papa’s Diner: (18 Park Place, East Hampton): John Papa's Diner exudes an inviting charm that instantly transports patrons to a bygone era. A local institution since 1952, this diner offers a nostalgic dining experience coupled with a menu that tantalizes taste buds. From classic breakfast favorites like fluffy pancakes and sizzling bacon to mouthwatering lunch options like juicy burgers and crispy Reuben sandwiches, there's something for everyone.  We enjoy the homemade soups, the daily lunch specials, and the classic grilled cheese sandwich—which is a truly comfort food at its best.  Order the home fries if available—the restaurant does run out by lunchtime.
